Prospective Students
One of the first things many prospective students ask is "What exactly is Consumer and Family Sciences"? In simplest terms, the college prepares students for careers that involve helping people, whether it's working as a preschool teacher, hospital dietitian, financial specialist, or hotel manager. Check out CFS Graduates at Work to see what our alumni are doing.
If you like working with people and are interested in improving the quality of life for others, then explore the majors in CFS. Options are available in business, education, science, and the social sciences.
We Keep It Personal
With more than 30,000 students at its West Lafayette campus, Purdue is a large place; but don't worry that you'll get lost in the crowd. Our college is one of the smallest at Purdue, creating a familiar and intimate environment for its students. When asked what they like most about CFS, many of our students say, "It's personal." And that's how it should be.
Talk with a Current Student
To talk anytime with a current CFS student, just e-mail one of our Student Ambassadors. They are sophomores, juniors, and seniors who can give you an insider's perspective on the college environment, our majors, and student life outside of classes. Throughout the year, we also offer online chats.
Take a Look Around
We encourage you to plan a visit to fully explore the opportunities available in the college. While here, you can tour our facilities, talk with current students, meet with academic professionals, and explore the campus.
