Since 1994 the Directory of Indiana Food Assistance Organizations has been made available by the Purdue Department of Foods and Nutrition and the Cooperative Extension Service through a Community Foods and Nutrition block grant from the Indiana Family and Social Services Administration. The directory was created as a resource for staff of agencies working to help those in need in Indiana. The directory contains approximately 2000 food assistance organizations from all over Indiana. The information contained in the directory was obtained from a variety of sources, including but not limited to: the Indiana Division of Family and Children, the Cooperative Extension Educators and food bank member lists. Each organization listed in the directory was sent a survey asking for information about their operation. General information from those surveys has been included in this directory. Although we have tried to make this directory as complete as possible, not all organizations are listed. Some organizations have requested that their names and addresses be withheld. The content of the directory is verified on a continuous basis and as a concerted effort at least every two years.
