Safe Food For the Hungry -- II

Group Activity 1: Safe Food Safari

Objectives:

Participants will play a game called Safe Food Safari. Critical food safety techniques will be reinforced and participants will identify critical control points, standards, and corrective actions as they make their way around the game board to arrive at Safe Food Shores.

Materials:

Preparation for Teaching:

  1. Assemble the Safe Food Safari game board by taping the three pieces together. To make your game board sturdier, you may wish to mount it on posterboard.

Instructions for Teaching:

  1. Players take turns rolling the die and moving around the board. When a player lands on a labeled space, a designated person reads the label. The player does what the label says.

  2. All players work as a group to determine the hazard, critical control points, and corrective action for each labeled space. Use the worksheet to facilitate this activity.

  3. The game ends when all players reach Safe Food Shores.
