AmpleHarvest.org
The AmpleHarvest.org campaign was created to enable backyard gardeners throughout America to share some of their fresh produce with neighbors who do not have access to fresh foods at their food pantry. The campaign enables neighbors in need to get garden fresh produce that might otherwise be wasted. More than 1,200 food pantries throughout the United States now participate in AmpleHarvest.org. The agency offers gardeners online real-time information about their neighborhood pantries. AmpleHarvest.org also offers gardeners and non-gardeners alike, the opportunity to see what store bought items the food pantries in their community need most. To register an emergency food assistance program on AmpleHarvest.org, visit the registration page: www.ampleharvest.org/reg-pantry.php and fill out the agency information. Once the decision is made to participate in AmpleHarvest.org, assistance is available on-line for posting to help the local community become aware of the opportunity to help the pantry.

The Sodexo Foundation (www.SodexoFoundation.org) is offering $5,000 scholarships to students in K - grad school who are fighting hunger in America. If you know of any students in the US who are doing great things to fight hunger, encourage them to apply between now and Feb. 26. Learn about last year's winners: 2009 STOP Hunger Scholars' bios. In addition to the scholarships, the Sodexo Foundation will provide a matching $5,000 grant to the students' designated charity.
