Military Families

The composition of our country’s armed forces has changed over time — we are increasingly relying on service members in the National Guard and Reserves who are more likely to have families they must leave behind to go to war. This shift in demographics has brought new challenges for military families.

Research on military families is conducted through the Military Family Research Insititute (MFRI) at Purdue University. MFRI’s studies provide insight into the experiences of military members and their families. The institute also designs and implements outreach activities to assist military families in Indiana and beyond, and strives to proactively build relationships with partners in both the military and civilian communities.
