Cancer

While cardiovascular disease is the leading cause of death in the United States, it’s usually the No. 2 killer that strikes fear into most — cancer. With our research expertise in nutrition and human development, faculty in the college are engaged in cancer research from the perspectives of prevention and families coping with cancer.

Cancer Prevention

It’s been suggested that nutrients play a prominent role in cancer prevention, but how they regulate cells is still unclear. To help better understanding that role, which will aid in designing recommendations to prevent specific diseases, foods and nutrition researchers are collaborating with researchers at the Purdue Cancer Center and the Oncological Sciences Center.

Living with Cancer

Health concerns are central to family life across the developmental spectrum, and families become increasingly important as adults face health care changes in old age. This is especially true for families coping with cancer.
