Do herbal supplements prolong our lives? Despite their popularity, the efficacy and effectiveness of herbal supplements is largely unknown.

The Botanicals Research Center for Age-Related Diseases is one of six centers in the nation studying the effects of botanical dietary supplements. Housed in the Department of Foods and Nutrition and sponsored by the National Institutes of Health, the interdisciplinary team at Purdue’s center studies the effects of botanicals on age-related diseases, such as cancer, osteoporosis, and cardiovascular disease.
