If
you love to travel, meet new people, and see new things then CFS
Study Abroad is something you should consider. Through study abroad,
you can experience the excitement of living and studying —
even working — in another country while you earn credit toward
your Purdue degree. Study abroad will expand your knowledge of the
world and give you a competitive edge in the job market.
Destinations (back
to top)
Programs specific to consumer and family sciences are available
in several countries, including Australia, Bahamas, China, England,
France, Ireland, Italy, Mexico, Poland, and Scotland. In addition,
the Purdue Study Abroad
Office operates more than 150 different programs in more than
40 countries.
Eligibility (back
to top)
- All students at Purdue University are eligible for study abroad.
- You must have attained the required GPA for your study abroad
program.
- You must have reached a sophomore standing (completed two semesters
of college) by the start of the study abroad program.
Foreign Language Skills (back
to top)
Most study abroad programs have no foreign language requirement.
In fact, many of them provide an opportunity for you to improve
your foreign language skills.
Costs (back
to top)
In many cases, the cost of studying abroad is comparable to the
cost of studying and living independently in West Lafayette. Base
fees are equal to Purdue's on-campus tuition and will be billed
by the Purdue Bursar, along with mandatory international health
insurance, housing/meals, and a program fee. Additional costs, such
as meals not included in the housing fee and airfare, are paid directly
by the student.
Students enrolled as regular Purdue students while on Purdue-administered
and co-sponsored study abroad programs are eligible for Purdue University
scholarships and financial aid, which may be applied to program
fees.
Scholarships (back

The College of Consumer
and Family Sciences has a number of scholarships specifically for
students who are studying abroad. In addition, the Purdue Study
Abroad Office offers scholarships.
