Academic
Records (back to top)
CFS Undergraduate Student
Services oversees the maintenance of files of CFS students. Through
SSINFO,
you can obtain an Academic Progress Report that summarizes
your academic progress toward graduation. You can also access "What
If" Progress Reports to see how your current academic progress
would apply toward another degree program. It is your responsibility
to ensure the accuracy of all academic records. An audit of academic
progress may be requested by scheduling an appointment with your
academic advisor or an academic advisor
in CFS Undergraduate Student Services.
CFS Undergraduate Student
Services complies with the University Regulations regarding rights
and privacy of each student's educational records, as stated in
Executive Memorandum
B-44.
Degree
Requirements (back to top)
In the College of Consumer
and Family Sciences, all majors require 130 semester hours for a
Bachelor of Science degree. Students must
meet all requirements for their declared major and maintain on
overall GPA of 2.0. For specific requirements for each degree, see
the Plan of Study associated
with that degree.
Registration
and Course Selection (back to top)
Spring 2009 Registration Information
Registration is the process of selecting
courses, reserving space in those courses, receiving a schedule,
and paying fees. A student is not officially enrolled until fees
are paid.
Registration begins with
your academic advisor or major professor. If you do not know who
your advisor is, or if you do not have an advisor, contact CFS
Undergraduate Student Services in Stone Hall, Room 110. For
course descriptions, please visit the Course
Information site.
Your advisor will help
you complete the Course Request Form and after it is processed,
a Registration Confirmation Package (RCP) will be issued. The RCP
includes the fee invoice and your class schedule. Be sure to pay
fees by the due date in order to prevent cancellation of your registration.
SSINFO
Through SSINFO
(Student Services Information on the Web) students can access a
variety of information ranging from academic progress reports and
the status of your financial aid application to finding a place
to live off campus.
Tips for Success
In monitoring the success of CFS students in courses that they perceive as difficult,
we have found that students who made a good faith effort to complete these
courses were much more likely to earn a passing grade. When approaching a class
that might be difficult for you, we suggest you consider the following Tips for Successfully Completing
Courses that May be Difficult for You.
Transfer
Credit (back to top)
Before students take coursework
at another university, they must obtain approval to transfer these
credits by completing a Transfer Credit Evaluation Report (CTR Form
5) and submitting it to the Office of Admissions. The Credit Evaluation
Office marks "Transfer Credit as It Will Appear on Your Purdue
Record." The form is sent to the advising office of the student's
school, and the student's advisor decides whether the coursework
may be used to meet degree requirements. Students should have transcripts
from other universities sent to the Office of Admissions as soon
as possible after completing coursework.
For students who take
coursework on study abroad programs not sponsored by Purdue, credit
evaluation is handled by the Office
of International Students & Scholars.
