Analysis of Military Member Commitment

Our overall perspective of commitment to the military involves all members of the family and emphasizes that commitment is not static; rather, the fluctuations of commitment over time represent keys to understanding its nature and consequences. Our program of research began with the development of a service-wide index of commitment to the military, for both members and spouses. In addition, we are examining the events that occur throughout an enlistment period and how these events contribute to the development of commitment and ultimately the desire to remain in the military.
