Due to recent increases in military member deployment, MFRI has begun a special collection of resources focusing on this topic. Several of our resources focus specifically on deployment and how it affects military families. Other resources are targeted more toward helping children deal with war, terrorism, and a parent being away from home due to a deployment.

Military One Source
This site is designed to help military families deal with life's issues. Consultants are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year and can be reached by phone or e-mail.

Military Mobilization Fact Sheet for Federal Family Education Loan Borrowers
NSLP developed this Fact Sheet as part of its overall effort to make sure that the student borrowers understand how to seek the postponement of their federal student loan payment obligations if they are mobilized.

This document lists several specific tips and techniques for helping children deal with parental absence due to deployment.

This Web site contains links to several documents that are designed to help families prepare and persevere during a military member's deployment.

Terrorism and Children
This Web site contains a variety of resources (links to journal articles, multimedia presentations, brochures, etc.) focusing on conveying information to parents of children who are concerned at war, terrorism and parental absence due to deployment.

Resilience in a Time of War
This site contains tips for parents and teachers elementary, middle and high school students cope with uncertainty during war time.

The Web site provides current information for families and educators about schools' crisis management policies and procedures, and makes available useful resources to help children and adults cope with the stress and anxiety associated with traumatic incidents.

Deployment and Family Separation: An Annotated Bibliography (PDF)
This research report contains brief descriptions of 66 studies, most of which were conducted during the past 20 years, on deployment and family separation.
