Potential Uses for MFRI Small Grants
There are many potential uses for money received through the MFRI Small Grants Program. Below is a list of several
types of projects that the MFRI Small Grants Program would consider funding, though you are encouraged to be
creative when considering partnerships community resource providers.
Examples of projects which could be funded through the MFRI Small Grants Program
- Travel expenses for guest speakers attending FRG meetings
- Materials and supplies needed for FRG meetings
- Childcare and youth engagement activities provided by community partners during FRG meetings (Examples includes partnering with the YMCA to provide open gym and swimming opportunities, or working with a
child care center to provide care during meetings)
- Postage and other communication expenses associated with serving the needs of family members located in areas outside the immediate vicinity of the FRG
- Supplies and materials used for youth projects, such as art projects to mail to deployed parents
Proposals will be reviewed by Purdue financial officials to ensure that the expenses are allowed under MFRI funding
rules. While we do encourage creative thinking when it comes to submitting a grant proposal, there are several
specific areas that our grant program will not be able to fund. No grant funds can be used for the purchase or consumption
of alcoholic beverages. Also, no grant funds will be issued to an individual; all checks will be made out to
organizations.
