When snow shut down Southwestern Middle School in Lafayette, Indiana, for several days in December, the students in Becky Brown Newell's eighth-grade family and consumer sciences class realized they had more than a few snow days on their hands — they had a manufacturing crisis.

Botanicals Center to Lead National Research in Dietary Supplements
In search of health and wellness, an increasing number of Americans are turning to dietary supplements. According to the National Center for Complementary and Alternative Medicine (NCCAM), the popularity of supplements such as soy isolates, green tea extract, garlic, echinacea, St. John's wort, and ginkgo has increased dramatically in the last decade. Despite the proliferation of these products, little is known about their safety and effectiveness.

Making an Impact at an Affordable Level of Giving
