eighth-grade family and consumer sciences class realized they had

Botanicals Center to Lead National Research
in Dietary Supplements
In search of health and wellness, an increasing number of Americans
are turning to dietary supplements. According to the National Center
for Complementary and Alternative Medicine (NCCAM), the popularity
of supplements such as soy isolates, green tea extract, garlic,
echinacea, St. John's wort, and ginkgo has increased dramatically
in the last decade. Despite the proliferation of these products,
little is known about their safety and effectiveness.

Making an Impact at an Affordable Level
of Giving
In the fall of 1999, the School of Consumer and Family Sciences
announced plans to embark on a three-year planned giving campaign
the first in the School's history. Now in its final year,
the campaign is very close to reaching its $10 million goal.
