Student Receives Flora Roberts Award
When Erin Taylor learned she was selected as the Flora Roberts Award
winner for outstanding graduating woman, she was more than a little
surprised. "I was amazed - I nearly fell out of my chair when
they told me. Needless to say, I was very honored."

Very Special Boilermaker Retires from Purdue
Teacher. Mentor. Friend. These are just a few of the words that
CFS alumni use to describe Mary Alice Nebold. After 35 years of
teaching and serving students, she is retiring from her position
as assistant dean for undergraduate instruction in the School of
Consumer and Family Sciences.

on the Farm
If you visit the Gladden farm during the spring planting season
or fall harvest, you'll likely find Phyllis Baker Gladden, BS '60,
on a tractor in the field. Phyllis is an equal partner with her
husband, Frank, in their farming operation that includes 560 acres
at their Avon, Indiana, home plus another 3,500 acres at other locations.

Center Campus Revolutionizes Customer Service
Every summer for the past seven years, the West Lafayette Campus
has played host to Call Center Campus, one of the premier events
in the contact center industry. Sponsored by the Center for Customer-Driven
Quality (CCDQ) in the School of Consumer and Family Sciences, Call
Center Campus attracts more than 300 call center professionals from
around the globe.

Extension Educators Explore Ireland
Last May, CFS Extension educators across Indiana traded in their
offices for the green hills of Ireland for two weeks as they participated
in a study tour to the Emerald Isle. The two-week trip was the first-ever
for Extension educators and was designed to compare cultural practices
of Ireland and the United States in consumer and family sciences
areas.

The Inspiring Families and Building Communities Award was established
earlier this year by the School of Consumer and Family Sciences
to recognize service to Indiana families at the grassroots level.

Each year, the CFS Alumni Association presents Outstanding Senior
Awards. Students are selected by the faculty and counselors from
their departments on the basis of scholarship, leadership, professionalism,
