It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of Dr. Raphael "Ray" Kavanaugh. Dr. Kavanaugh led our department for the last 11 years, and it was under his guidance that the department earned its number one ranking.
His many awards include the Michael E. Hurst Lifetime Achievement in Education Award and the Anthony G. Marshall Lifetime Achievement Award. He personally touched the lives of thousands and will be greatly missed by his many students, co-workers, and friends around the world.
His memorial service will be Wednesday, October 15 at 4:00 p.m. at St. Thomas Aquinas Center in West Lafayette, Indiana. The family has requested that memorials in memory of Raphael Kavanaugh for the Marriott Hall Building Fund be sent to the Purdue Foundation, 403 W. Wood Street, West Lafayette, IN 47907.
