President of EuroCHRIE, the European Federation of I-CHRIE. EuroCHRIE has 150 members, both institutions and individual professors active in hospitality education. British, Dutch, German and Swiss institutions represent the majority of the membership along with members in the Middle-East, Africa, Australia and New Zealand.
Founded in 1946, CHRIE, the Council on Hotel, Restaurant and Institutional Education, is a non-profit organization of educators, educational institutions and hospitality tourism industry-related corporations and associations. Its mission is to foster the international advancement of teaching, training, learning, research and practice in the field of hospitality/tourism management; and to encourage and facilitate the professional development of its members. CHRIE, with 1300 members worldwide, hosts conferences in the USA, Asia and Europe each year.
Born in Switzerland in a family of restaurant owners, Hervé Fournier studied both in Switzerland and in the USA where he lived for four years and met his wife. He returned to Switzerland to operate a hotel and night club. He started to teach Food Service in a hotel management school, completed a Swiss Master in Hotel Management and has been working for the last 17 years for the “César Ritz” Colleges as school director/principal. He has also completed a Master of Science Degree in International Hospitality Management at Manchester Metropolitan University, UK.
He is a member of the Board of Directors of the Regional Tourism Board Chablais Tourisme. Herve Fournier is a Rotarian and is also President of the Foundation AMJ, in co-operation with the Montreux Jazz Festival. |
