Sara Lee Food and Beverage is announcing a MAJOR FINANCIAL AWARD to the winners of a competition to develop an innovative product for potential use by the company. The innovation should:
- Be novel and fit within the current product lines at Sara Lee.
- Fit in one or both of Sara Lee product divisions (retail and wholesale).
- Fit or compliment current product lines: bakery, meats, sauces, dressings, coffee.
WHO CAN APPLY?
Sophomores and above, including graduate students, from the Departments of
- Agricultural and Biological Engineering
- Foods and Nutrition
- Food Science
- Hotel and Tourism Management
Competition priority will be given to team applications with representation from each department.
WHAT WOULD A STUDENT TEAM DO?
- Submit an short application listing the idea/concept, advisor, and a budget by January 8, 2007. Teams will have up to $500 for development expenses.
- If chosen to compete, teams develop the innovation spring semester.
- Make a final presentation with the product in mid-April for judging.
WHY WOULD I WANT TO PARTICIPATE?
- A SUBSTANTIAL financial award given directly to the winning team
- Opportunity to combine classroom and lab work for a practical application
- Opportunity to develop and use creative and entrepreneurial skills
