Purdue requires that all graduate
applications be submitted online to The
Graduate School. Please apply early so that all of your supporting materials arrive prior to the review date. Application deadline is Friday, January 15, 2010. All applications will be reviewed within three weeks of this deadline.
Requirements
- GRE scores of at least 1000 (verbal and quantitative sections).
- International students also need a minimum TOEFL score of 600 (paper-based) or 250 (computer based). Minimum TOEFL iBT scores required by Purdue University are: Writing 18, Speaking 18, Listening 14, Reading 19, and overall 77. Applicants who fail to meet these minimums cannot be accepted. In addition, Purdue does not offer conditional admission to applicants with inadequate TOEFL scores. For this reason, we strongly recommend that individuals with inadequate TOEFL scores make every effort to improve their scores prior to applying. The INP will consider an application with inadequate TOEFL scores only if a new exam date has been scheduled by the application deadline of January 15. IELTS scores are also accepted; the minimum required score is 6.5. The ETS institutional code for Purdue University is 1631. A department code is not necessary.
- Three letters of recommendation from people who know your academic strengths and can comment on your suitability for graduate studies
- Original transcripts for academic institutions you have attended (even if you didn't receive a degree)
- A statement of purpose that explains (1) Why are you interested in nutrition? (2) What type of nutrition research do you want to do? and (3) Why do you want to attend Purdue to achieve your goals? You are also encouraged to provide other information you feel will be valuable for the review of your application. Please note that our program requires a statement of purpose that is 1500 words long. This is longer than the limit listed in the Graduate School general application instructions.
- Deadline for submission is Friday, January 15, 2010.
Prerequisites for Coursework
The curriculum for the first year includes a year-long core nutrition course. The prerequisites for this course are:
