The F&N Office closes from noon-1PM. Your assignment must be handed-in

BEFORE the office closes at noon.  The assignment receives a letter grade of “A” if

all criteria discussed in the tape. Late assignments receive points off at the rate of 1

Instructions for those taking F&N 106 via tape: Spring, 2005

1.      The course syllabus is ONLY available in the Boiler Copy Maker: 157 Union.

2.      The attached page 5 and 6 are from the syllabus. It lists all the topics for the class,

assignments for the class, and due dates. Each of the 2 projects in the class is

explained in detail on the tapes when they are assigned.  BEFORE  1/14, you are to:

a)      get your personal copy of the course syllabus

b)      complete p 7 and pp 8-10 of the course syllabus and hand them in by 1/14.

3.      You may watch as many of the videotapes as you wish at any time, but the course only requires 2 per week beginning the week of 1/17. The course is over the week of 2/28.  The course tapes are from the fall semester. Tape 1 covers the same information as we discussed on 1/11.

4.   DO take your syllabus materials with you when you view the tapes to facilitate

      following the lecture material.

5.      At Purdue, the video tapes are housed in the Undergraduate Library located in Stewart Center. Go to the circulation desk and ask for the tape by the UGRL listing which is  UGRL WOOD: VC and then a number in order of the tapes, beginning with #1 and going through 12; thus UGRL WOOD: VC 1. Also ask for a headset, and a green card to complete. You must ask for these. Then watch the tape and turn it, and the completed card, back in at the desk. NOTE:  Complete a green card and turn in at the desk each time you watch a tape. This is the ONLY way you will receive credit for watching a tape, so you must do it each time and for each tape you watch. The cards are then sent to me for a record that you watched the tape.  You lose 5 points for each time a card is not returned to me.

6.      You are encouraged to correspond with the professor during the course when you have questions that are not answered on the tapes. You may do this via phone or e-mail but it will be quicker by e-mail. If you call and get my voice mail, just leave your question and be sure to leave your phone number. My e-mail is on the

front page of the syllabus and is woodo@cfs.purdue.edu

My goal for this course is that your questions are answered, so please do not hesitate

to contact me with any questions.

7.      Attached to this page are class lecture notes for one class in which the camera crew

did not come to tape the class. You should read these notes between watching

Tapes 7 and 8 as the notes cover the material that was not taped. This is noted on

the syllabus.
