Through outreach, Purdue helps put knowledge to work to create
new opportunities that advance our society and solve common
problems. Engagement efforts within the department concentrate
on strengthening the capacity of individuals and families to
establish and maintain economic security and providing research-based
information to industry professionals.
Through Purdue
Extension, family
resource management specialists in
the department develop programs aimed at helping consumers
with personal and family financial management, consumer education,
housing, and alternative work opportunities. Extension Educators
in Indiana's 92 counties become a vital link in the community,
providing information and educational programming at the
point-of-need to enhance lives, homes, and communities.
