Philosophy:
An integral part of graduate education is development of an ability to present and evaluate research results of our own as well as others. This includes being a participant in research seminars that we attend by being prepared, listening, and questioning the presenter when we do not understand or when we have an alternate hypothesis that explains the data presented. This provides us with a much better opportunity to learn from the seminars we attend.
Our goal in F+N 695 is to develop these skills in our graduate students by providing opportunities to prepare and present seminars and to participate in seminars presented by fellow students as well as by visiting scientists and other Purdue faculty. We hope that the structure provided in this course will assist you in the development of these skills.
