If you need a good molecule viewer you can use RasMol (for *.pdb files) from the Virtual Molecule page or RasTop (also from the Virtual Molecule page).
Also, you can get D-glyceraldehyde, the D-tetroses, D-pentoses (both the furanoses and the pyranoses), the D-hexoses (pyranoses) and some selected oligosaccharides in the *.pdb fileformat from the links below. Either Rasmol or RasTop will open the *.pdb files. The tetrose, pentose, and hexose files below are *.zip files and you will need a zip utility to unzip them after you download them. You can get Zip Central for free at this link. There are also many other free zip utilities available on the web.
PDB files (Rasmol) D-Glyceraldehyde D-Tetroses D-Pentoses D-Hexoses Oligosaccharides A note about downloading the files listed above: First of all figure out where you are going to save these files or make a new folder in which to save them. If you are using Netscape just left-click on the link and the download will start. Follow the same procedure if you use Internet Explorer, except for the D-glyceraldehyde file. In this case, right-click and choose "Save Target As...". The download should then proceed smoothly. Have a good time!!
