Mapping Your Career Account Home Directory

These instructions explain how to map your H: drive, also known as your career account drive, on a computer running Windows XP or 2000.

If you live off-campus a VPN connection must be established before mapping your H: drive. Follow the directions in [KB002495] How do I set up a Windows VPN connection?

  1. On the Desktop or after clicking the Start button. Right-click on My Computer then left-click Map Network Drive...
  2. It will bring up a new window; next to Drive choose what drive letter you wish it map the drive as. (Standard is H:)
  3. Next to Folder type in one of the following:

    • On-campus (Residence Halls, Purdue Airlink, & ResNet Dial-up):
      • \\rosetta.ics.purdue.edu\"username"
      • or \\128.210.10.43\"username"
    • Off-campus:
      • \\offcampus.ics.purdue.edu\"username"
      • or \\128.210.10.81\"username"
    • Make sure the check box next to "Reconnect at logon" has a check inside it if you wish to have this drive appear each time you restart your computer.

  4. Click on the underlined text different user name.

  5. A window will pop-up, fill in your username and password and click OK.

  6. Click the Finish button.

  7. The H: drive should appear in My Computer.
