Weekly MCLC Construction update, 11/23/09
Roofing
The roofing project is making progress with the recent good weather. The contractor reports that the noisy phase of the project is just about finished.
We expect the roofing project to be completely done within two weeks. Thanks for your patience during this inconvenient yet necessary repair job!
Hanley Hall Construction
Did you see the photos and the video of the Hanley excavation on the MCLC web site? Something interesting to explore and talk about with your child! (www.cfs.purdue.edu/cdfs/PUChildrensPrograms/MCLC/MCLCindex.htm)
The next phase of the construction involves building the foundation for Hanley Hall and also installing large water lines and other utilities.
What does this mean for you?
Soon we will have large cement trucks going back and forth as the foundation is poured. Please be cautious as you cross First Street! Continue to follow these parking and walking rules!
1. Park only in the parallel spaces along First Street.
2. Get your children out of the car on the sidewalk side, not in the street.
3. Walk with your child along the First St. sidewalk. Please do not walk in the
street!
4. Cross First St. cautiously near the entrance to MCLC, between the little
green men. Hold your child’s hand, or carry your child when crossing First
St. (Soon we hope to have a painted cross walk at that location.)
5. Do not make a U-turn on First St.! Do not park or turn around in the area
by the MCLC main door. Instead, drive through the Residence Hall
parking lot to the far exit, then turn left to come back on First St.
Also important—Sometime in December we expect to have First St. entirely closed and the main entrance to MCLC closed temporarily, so that the construction crew can dig up a long section of First St. and put utility lines deep underground. This will take 1 to 2 months. During this time, we will relocate our parent parking spaces around the corner on Jischke drive, and our temporary main entrance will then be next to the Purple Room, off Jischke Drive. We will have more information soon and will let you know what date this change will go into effect.
