I am Polly Ford the head teacher in the Blue Room. I have been at Purdue for nine years and have found my passion for teaching with two-year olds.
I have been a teacher at a day care center and have been a director at Britannica Preschools in Chicago and Village Nursery School in West Lafayette, IN. I enjoy coming to school every day and I strive to make my classroom safe, fun, educational and stimulating. It is equally important that my classroom is a warm and loving environment where each child feels unique and special. I hope that my two-year olds look forward to each day just like I do.

Children energize me. Some of the most rewarding moments are when I see a child's face light up with a new discovery.
A child's work is play. Through play children are able to discover their world. They can try out adult roles, work through stressful situations, experiment with materials, and build social skills.
I'm a widow with an adult daughter and son. I am Grandma to a beautiful little boy. I've worked with children in a variety of settings for 30 years. I also teach Early Childhood Education classes at Ivy Tech State College. When I have free time, one of my favorite things to do is work in my flower beds.

I have enjoyed working with children since high school, when I began babysitting. Later I had my own family child care home for several years. In 2003 I was blessed to get this job at Purdue working with all these wonderful children. I love working with the children, because I know I am looking out for their welfare and have their best interests in mind. It is extremely rewarding to work with children. Today's children may be tomorrow's great inventors, great doctors, or ...the sky's the limit!
I develop a close bond with each child, but make sure that I do not compete with the parents or other family caregivers. I feel it is important to support them in their role.
