I am Amanda Cuttell, the head teacher in the A.M. East classroom. I graduated from Purdue in May of 1999 and finished earning my Master's degree through Indiana Wesleyan University shortly after that. I love children and enjoy working with families. I just celebrated my seven-year anniversary with my husband Douglas Cuttell. Doug works at the Purdue Cancer Center. You will see him in and out of the classroom from time to time. We moved to Lafayette five years ago and do not miss the commute from Kokomo which I did for four years. My mom, dad and younger sister live in Indianapolis and my youngest sister lives in Boston. We are together often! Our newest and most exciting adventure is the birth of a daughter. We couldn't be having more fun with her! I believe that parents are their child's first teacher and by working closely with them we can build a partnership in education. I feel children learn best through play, in hands-on experiences, that allow them to use as many senses as possible to absorb knowledge.

I graduated from Purdue in December 2008 with a degree in ECEEN. I began teaching in the lab school the following January and have been a teacher in the East lab since.
Young children gain knowledge from their experiences and so I believe in learning through play. As a teacher, I work to create an atmosphere that is welcoming and activities that stimulate curiosity and imagination.
