"The advice I would give to a first-year student is to get involved. By getting involved, not only do you get to meet all different kinds of people, but you learn skills that you can use for the rest of your life."

What do you like best about CFS?

"I love that it's small -- it brings a small school feel to a huge university. I get to know my classmates, advisor, and professors. I have benefitted from the closeness and the chance to build relationships with people in CFS."

"I wanted to go out of state, go to a school that had Apparel Design, was solid in academics, strong in a lot of different areas, had a greek life, a football team and so much to offer its students. Purdue has all of what I wanted—I couldn’t imagine myself anywhere else!"

"Stay organized! Learn how to manage your time, stay on campus between classes, and do not procrastinate. Take your education seriously, but remember to have fun too!"

"As a Family and Consumer Sciences Education major, I am learning about a very broad spectrum of topics. Therefore, I will be able to teach many different courses once I am in the school systems. FACS is a growing and constantly changing field. I'm excited to see where it is in twenty years."

"Don’t worry about coming to a bigger school. I graduated with 50 kids in my class in high school. I attend lectures with more people than were in my high school. It’s okay. Purdue is only as big as you make it and offers endless opportunities."
