The program works to help parents build and maintain stable relationships with each other and their children. It is a value-based educational program that works with families dealing with troubled marriages and/or divorce, teen parents, and teaches married parents how to maintain and improve their relationship. Caring Parents Program
Family Service of Bartholomew County
Columbus, Indiana

After two cases of shaken baby syndrome were reported in Bartholomew County in 2003, county residents responded by developing Caring Parents. The program reaches 95 percent of new parents and educates them on how to handle inconsolable crying. Since the program's inception, no infants in the county have suffered from shaken baby syndrome. Ryan's Place
Goshen, Indiana

The program provides support and a safe environment for grieving children, teens, and their families to share their experience as they go through the healing process. Over the past seven years, Ryan's Place has served more than 1,200 clients. Families from nine different counties in northern Indiana have used the free services. Press Release
