Associate Director, Child Development Laboratory Preschool

    • This is a permanent half-time 9 ½ -month per year administrative & professional position (early August through mid-May.) The Associate Director oversees daily operations of the Child Development Lab Preschool program (CDL), including teacher and volunteer supervision, family relations, professional and curriculum development, enrollment, budget monitoring and making necessary arrangements for researchers and university practicum students. The Associate Director supervises daily implementation of best practices in early education for all children, including children with special needs and families from diverse cultures. CDL is a nationally-accredited part-day preschool serving 76 children (2 to 5 yrs.) within the Department of Child Development & Family Studies (CDFS). The Associate Director works on an administrative team with the Director of Early Childhood Programs and the Associate Director of the Ben & Maxine Miller Child Learning Center. The Associate Director will also work with the CDFS faculty and Department Head to align the CDL program with the Department’s research and teaching missions. This half-time position offers a competitive salary (dependent on qualifications) and full Purdue benefits. A Masters degree in early childhood education, child development, or closely related field is required, plus 5 years experience in teaching or administration in early childhood programs. Should have experience with Indiana child care licensing rules and accreditation standards of the National Association for the Education of Young Children. Working knowledge of the operation of early childhood programs and supervisory skills are essential. Opportunities to do additional work for the Department may be available in the future.

Imagination Station Child Development Center: Lead Infant Teacher

    • Relevant Bachelor's Degree preferred; must be working toward bachelor degree
    • Minimum CDA Credential in Infant Toddler or Relevant Associate's Degree may be accepted.
    • Member of relevant professional organization (eg., NAEYC, Zero To Three, ITSI, etc.)
    • Physically able to lift 40 pounds
    • Previous experience working with children aged 0 - 3 years of age
    • Capable of meeting physical demands of children
    • Successful completion of Infant CPR and basic first aid
    • Negative interdermal TB test
    • Submit criminal history affidavit
    • Pass a 5-panel drug screen

Research Assistant

Purdue University needs research assistants to collect evaluation data for the new Paths to QUALITY child care rating and improvement system. Several positions are available, two in the northern half of the state and two in the southern half. Full time or part time (10-35 hours per week). Research assistants will collect data in licensed child care centers and homes, and registered child care ministries. Work schedule will vary, usually between 7 AM and 6 PM weekdays. Travel is required and paid, covering a multi-county area. Qualified candidates will participate in training sessions to learn to use observational assessment tools. Training will be held at Purdue University or other sites. Pay is $14/hr, plus personal car mileage reimbursement (state rates.)

Qualified candidates should hold at least an associate degree in Early Childhood Education or a related field (bachelors or masters degree in ECE preferred.) Experience as a child care teacher or family child care provider is desirable.
