Hospitality Scholarships: CURRENT HTM STUDENTS
Throughout each academic year, thousands of dollars in scholarships are available to students who are majoring in Hospitality and Tourism Management. These scholarships all differ in regards to whether there is a specific GPA requirement, financial need, or work experience requirement. Freshman, sophomore, junior, and senior standing, are also considered. The scholarships generally come in one of the following ways:
- A company or organization gives money to the HTM department for the purpose of scholarships and either the department, or the department and donor decide on who will receive it.
- The department receives scholarship application information from an association or other organization and notifies the student via e-mail and/or announcements in class about the applications and their requirements. The student can then download an application at a specific Web site or pick up an application from the HTM Student Services office scholarship file drawer. The student fills out the application(s) and mails it to the company offering the scholarship.
- The department nominates students for awards and students must supply supporting information such as a current transcript, letters of recommendation, career statements, etc. When the student supplies the requested information, he/she is then nominated for the award.
To be considered for any of the above categories, the student must completely fill out a HTM Department Scholarship Application and attach a current resume. The application will not be considered unless both are completed.
Current Purdue students should have scholarship information in by the first Friday in December to be considered for the following fall. The HTM Scholarship Committee awards scholarship funds or nominates students for an award by reviewing active scholarship applications and resumes for qualified candidates.
