Course Description
A review of contemporary standards of human interaction in the workplace. How manners, etiquette and style affect and enhance everyday dealings with others.
Pre-requisite
None
At the completion of this course, the student will be able to:
Course Objectives
- Understand the pertinent information on an invitation
- Issue a correctly worded social invitation
- Correctly introduce themselves/others, correctly use titles where appropriate
- Use appropriate behaviors for stand-up/sit-down events
- Start and continue reception & dinner table conversation
- Differentiate between the techniques needed for handling formal and informal dining situations
- Correctly interpret menu language, receive items appropriate to the occasion and which can be consumed easily with style
- Navigate a wine-list and make suitable recommendations for a table of guests
- Comport themselves successfully during an interview/interview meal
- Understand the basics of entertaining, even on a limited budget
- Behave in a manner appropriate when attending a function in a private home, or when staying as a guest in someone's home
- Make a toast, reply to a toast.
- Give and receive compliments
- Treat others with respect and courtesy, and be able to deal with others less civil
- Make decisions regarding the appropriateness of gifts, how to give & receive gifts in a corporate setting
- Dress for success
- Handle electronic voice/data mail with style and efficiency
