Course Description
Basic principles of planning, organizing, directing, and controlling human and physical resources will be addressed. Students will also learn how these principles can be applied to maximize the organizational effectiveness of hospitality and tourism businesses.
Pre-requisite
Hospitality and Tourism Management majors only and (First semester sophomore standing or higher).
Course Objectives
- To learn basic management principles of planning, organizing, directing and controlling as applied to the hospitality and tourism business.
- To learn about organizational change, organizational effectiveness and the nature of managerial work.
- To learn basic management skills that managers possess in order to effectively manage in the hospitality and tourism industry.
- To gain exposure to issues facing managers in the world today.
- To discover the issues facing managers in Hospitality and Tourism Industry.
- To learn how to work effectively in teams.
- To read and benefit from the information in the Wall Street Journal
