Course Description
An overview of the supervisory careers, opportunities, and responsibilities in the foodservice, lodging, and tourism industry; including historical developments, pioneers, and industry leaders; representatives of companies from the three areas.

Course Objectives
- Become familiar with the employment potential provided by the hospitality and tourism industry.
- Develop a basic understanding of the size and scope of the hospitality industry.
- Describe the various kinds of hospitality operations; how they are organized and managed.
- Understand the businessperson's social responsibility to customers and the environment.
- Keep pace with current events in the hospitality industry by listening to industry leaders.
- Learn key words and phrases that are central to the hospitality and tourism industry.
- Learn your behavioral style and determine others, too.
- Learn to be responsible by handing in all assignments when due and reflect your best efforts.
- Practice social responsibility by performing community service work.

This is a survey course that covers all aspects of the hospitality and tourism industry.
