Transfer credit is credit earned at another accredited college or university and accepted by Purdue. The University will accept transfer credit only for work done at those institutions fully approved by a regional accrediting association of secondary schools and colleges or those whose regional accreditation designation is Associate/Vocational-Technical (A/V) when agreements with academic departments exist that specify courses or blocks of credit that will transfer into specific Purdue University degree programs. Credits with “C” grade or better are accepted from institutions regionally accredited by:
- Middle State Association of Colleges and Schools (MS)
- North Central Association of Colleges and Schools (NC)
- New England Association of Colleges and Schools (NE)
- Northwest Association of Colleges and Schools (NW)
- Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SA)
- Western Association of Colleges and Schools (WA)
If Purdue has an equivalent course, credit will be transferred using Purdue’s course number. If Purdue does not offer an equivalent course, credit is transferred as undistributed (UND). Each college/school has the authority to designate undistributed credit to fulfill a course requirement or to serve as elective credit.
Follow this procedure:
(This CTR-5 form is not to be used for courses to be taken at Purdue’s Calumet and North Central regional campuses. Download Transfer Credit Procedures for Students Attending Other Purdue Campuses.)
- Obtain a Transfer Credit Evaluation Form (CTR-5), available in Schleman, Room 108.
- Complete the CTR-5 form (in triplicate) and return it to the Office of Admissions for evaluation.
- The Credit Evaluation Department will evaluate the course and mail a credit evaluation report to your advisor.
- Your advisor will record on the form how the course will be used on your plan of study (in some cases, the selected courses may not be approved). The form will be mailed to you at the address you provide.
- Grades are not transferred, only credit is recorded.
