Building Better Bones: A Study for Adolescent Boys & Girls

Building Better Bones is a research study currently recruiting boys and girls in 4th-8th grade.  We will track changes in nutrition, bone size, body size, and body composition at Purdue University every 6 months for 18 months, or a total of 4 times.  At these visits, small amounts of blood and urine will be collected, and 2 kinds of bone scans, along with other body measurements will be made.  Between visits, participating boys and girls will be asked to complete weekly checklists of certain foods that they eat.  Participants may be asked to consume extra dairy products (milk, cheese, or yogurt) which will be provided at no cost, and all subjects will be paid for their participation.
