There are three active student organizations for CDFS majors. Each
organization sponsors a range of presentations by community-based
professionals, workshops, and activities focused on important issues
related to children, youth, and families.
Purdue Association for the Care of Children's Health (PACCH)
provides students interested in working with children in medical
settings an opportunity to learn about professional roles as well
as being involved in planning and implementing child health awareness
activities. Most members are majors in child health; however, anyone
interested is welcome.
Purdue Association for the Education of Young Children (PAEYC)
is affiliated with the National Association for the Education
of Young Children, to which professionals in the fields of early
childhood development, family studies, special education, and elementary
education belong. Membership is open to anyone interested in the
education and well-being of children from birth through age 8 and
their families.
Purdue Council on Adolescent Pregnancy (PCAP) is affiliated with the Indiana Council on Adolescent Pregnancy (ICAP). Membership in PCAP includes membership in ICAP. The goals of the organization are to create a forum to discuss issues related to adolescent pregnancy, parenthood, and prevention; to serve as a campus-wide network for the dissemination of information; to coordinate efforts with Indiana Council on Adolescent Pregnancy; and to serve the community on a volunteer basis.
Purdue University Council on Family Relations (PUCFR) addresses
issues relevant to individuals and families across the life span.
The organization's major goals are to foster professional activities
and interests among its members and to provide services to families.
A local affiliate of the National Council on Family Relations, PUCFR
prides itself on its commitment to encouraging scholastic excellence,
developing leadership abilities, and promoting career development
in the field of family studies. Membership in PUCFR is available
to all Purdue students.
