The department actively develops and maintains an extensive array of outreach programs through Purdue Extension and the Center for Families. Innovative and award-winning programs reach the general public as well as employers, policymakers, and professionals in educational and social service agencies.

In addition, the department houses two children's programs, (Child Development Laboratory School and the Purdue Child Care Program) and the Individual, Couple, and Family Therapy Clinic. These programs each provide practicum and internship opportunities for students, serve as sites for research projects, and provide needed services to the community.
