If a student enrolls in a continuous master's/doctorate program at Purdue, the student
shall have nine years from date of matriculation to finish all requirements for
the master's and doctorate, including depositing the dissertation.
Students who already hold a master's degree and are beginning the doctoral degree program
shall have seven years from the date of matriculation to finish all requirements,
including depositing the dissertation.
Students who wish to receive a master's degree must complete the degree requirements in
the first four years, including the thesis.
Exceptions to the above policies may be made for extenuating circumstances. Exceptions
require a letter to the graduate Committee signed by the student's advisor and approval by
a majority of the members of the Graduate Committee.
