Data collectors are needed immediately for an evaluation project conducted by Purdue University Child Development and Family Studies department and funded by the Welborn Baptist Foundation. The Early Child Care Quality Initiative is a community-wide effort by 4C of Southern Indiana to improve the quality of child care in Vanderburgh and surrounding counties. Qualified candidates are needed to assist in conducting observational assessments in child care settings. Work by data collectors will begin in November, 2005 and conclude in August, 2006.
Qualifications
Qualified candidates will have at least a high school diploma and some college credit, experience in child care, education, psychology or a related field. Upper level undergraduate and graduate students are encouraged to apply. Candidates must meet the following job requirements:
- All data collectors must participate in a 3-3 ½ day training before January 2006.
The training is scheduled during the week of December 12, 2005. All training will be paid on an
hourly basis.
- If applicable, candidates should be in good academic standing from their respective departments.
Candidates must have the ability to complete work on time, be professional, and keep information
confidential.
- Four data collectors will conduct approximately 160 observational assessments. Each data collector
will conduct approximately 40 assessments, with about half occurring in January/February and the
remaining in June/July 2006. Each assessment will last approximately 3 hours.
- Candidates must be willing to stay for the duration of the project (January-July 2006).
- Candidates must have reliable transportation.
Compensation
Data collectors will be paid $12 per hour for training, meeting time, and conducting observations.
