Outreach
Outreach is where impact meets access. Through engagement, Hoosiers and communities throughout Indiana can benefit from the research and resources in the Department of Child Development and Family Studies at Purdue University.
Research in the department is applied and goes hand-in-hand with our engagement activities, which are focused on solving the real challenges people face every day — things like finding quality child care, balancing work and family, improving relationships, and issues associated with aging.
Children’s Programs
The department operates two preschool programs that serve the learning, discovery, and engagement missions at Purdue. The programs provide child development practica and student teaching experiences for Purdue students, fulfill a need in the community for high quality early education and child care, and provide a site for child development and early education research. Both programs are accredited by the National Association for the Education of Young Children, signifying the highest level of program quality.
Individual, Couple and Family Therapy Clinic
The department's Individual, Couple and Family Therapy Clinic is part of the doctoral training program in marriage and family therapy. The clinic offers services to individuals, couples, and families having personal or family-related problems. It is staffed by supervised graduate student therapists specializing in marriage and family therapy. Visit the clinic's Web site.
Human Development Extension
The mission of the Human Development Extension specialty is to maximize the psychological, social, physical, and emotional well-being of Indiana residents. Human Development Extension provides non-formal educational opportunities that increase knowledge, influence attitudes, teach skills, inspire aspirations, and encourage behavior changes. Programs and resources are available in the following areas:
