Purdue Extension offers Child Care Review Sessions to
Home Care By Design Staff
Home Care By Design has partnered with Purdue Extension and Kathy Murray at the Tippecanoe County Extension office to offer child care review sessions for their staff involved in nanny care, a new service being offered by their company.
To date, 21 Home Care By Design staff members have attended a day-long session focusing on a review of the basics of in-home child care (observing children, developmental stages, temperament, behavior and guidance, health and 
nutrition, daily routines, communication, handling emergencies, and professionalism). Follow-up training sessions, resources, and consulting are also being offered on an on-going basis as needed.
Several of the Home Care By Design staff are former or current Purdue students from our College in CDFS, Nursing, Psychological Sciences, Health Sciences, and Speech, Language and Hearing Sciences.
Home Care By Design, located in Lafayette, IN, provides help 2 to 24 hours a day to anyone who needs assistance in the comfort of their home. Traditionally their services have focused on offering aid and assistance to seniors, and Alzheimer and Dementia care clients, but in the summer of 2010, they expanded their services to include nanny care (childcare help for single or busy parents; new mom assistance; extra help for a sick child, after-school care, or homecare concierge services, etc.)
